Maxie: Jem's
Replacement?
|
 |
The Story Of

In 1987, Hasbro canceled the Jem line and decided to go with a more
"Barbie friendly" doll line. Thus, Maxie was born! Maxie was scaled in the
typical 11.5" size and was patterned after the premise that brought Barbie to fame...
an all-American beautiful & popular high school girl with a cute boyfriend!
-Cartoon's Story-
One of the most popular students at Surfside High School, Maxie, a young, pretty girl and
straight-A student is the center of a series of adventures about her Malibu schoolmates,
the loves of her life, and her outside interests, including her own weekly local
television show. Thirty-two episodes were aired daily in syndication with Beverly Hills
Teens and It's Punky Brewster. It was a half-hour, syndicated show by DIC Enterprises,
which premiered September, 1989. Oddly enough, for a show I wasn't too found of, I found
it really easy to find most of Maxie's episodes at my local Blockbuster Video (they had a
great stock of Jem tapes until someone bought them! :)
Team Maxie: Maxie, Carly, Simone, Jeri, Rob, Ashley, Ferdie, Mushroom, Mr. Garcia.
